How Do We Increase Family Engagement in Schools?

The school year has started. We are now in our 3rd month of school here at OMS. How do we engage the family? How do we get them involved? Yes, it's easy for the elementary schools, but what about the middle and high schools? How do we improve family engagement. Call it parent involvement or family involvement. Either way you say it, how do you do it?

Middle School Years - Working Together for School Success:

Does your child expect everything to happen now? If a friend doesn't call back immediately or his teacher hasn't graded his project yet, encourage your child to come up with possible explanations. Maybe his/her friend is at a movie or the teacher has 100 assignments to grade. Thinking reasonably can help him/her be patient.

Quote for the week: "The time is always right to do what is right." Martin Luther King Jr.
